What does it mean to be independent?

First Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church.

That means we are not affiliated with any particular Baptist denomination or ruling body.

We do not answer to a bishop or a denominatioanl board of directors.

Because of this we can elect our own leadership and support our own missionaries.

An independent church is directly accountable to the Lord Jesus Christ and then to it membership as a whole.
