About Our Church

Meet our Pastor

Pastor David Snow moved to Oregon in November 2019, to become the pastor of First Baptist Church of Oregon. Growing up, his family lived in various places throughout the Midwest states of Indiana, Minnesota, and Illinois. When he was a teenager, he recognized the call of God on his life to be in the ministry. Having studied at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa and completing a degree to be an assistant pastor, he ministered with his dad who was pastoring in the Quad Cities. Among other responsibilities, he worked with the youth group there at Grace Baptist Church.

After some years of ministry at Grace, David met his wife, Janet, and went back to seminary, this time in South Carolina. While working on his graduate studies at Bob Jones University, both David and Janet were active in local churches around the Greenville, South Carolina area. After graduating with his master’s degree, the Lord led him to pastor Grace Bible Church in Casey, Illinois, and then later, here to Oregon, Illinois. David enjoys connecting with people and getting involved in the community. He has served as an election judge, kid’s soccer coach, and as an active 4-H parent. He has also been employed by various warehouses in south central Illinois. When he’s not working, he enjoys watching or participating in sports, fishing, reading, and spending time with his family.

Faith

Life is often described as a journey.
The road a person chooses to take on that journey depends on their personal choices (faith). Some may choose the wide road, but that choice leaves a person longing for things which can never satisfy his deepest desires. The other road is narrow, but it leads to a life of hope based on our faith in Jesus Christ alone to save us from our sins.

The Bible makes it clear that without Christ a person is lost. This is because each person born into the world is a sinner in need of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Because He loves us, God stepped in and provided a way to have that relationship for any that would believe and choose life in Jesus Christ.

Our church family believes it is important to care for and pray for each other. We enjoy spending time worshipping God together. It truly is exciting to watch God take a person from where he is and help him grow and change.

Another way that we emphasize family is by giving our members opportunities to serve together. This might be by teaching, working in the nursery, helping in the kids’ ministries, cleaning, or helping with community events.

Family

Fellowship

Over these past couple of years our whole world began to realize just how important companionship and friendship is. Spending time with other Christians helps us grow closer to God and to each other. Our church family has frequent times of fellowship in addition to our regular church services. This might be eating a meal together, having a family game night, or even taking the kids fishing or roller skating!
